The Seiko Prospex SLA017 is an exceptional model that was created as a faithful re-edition of Seiko's first professional diver's watch from 1965, known as the 62MAS (ref. 6217-8000). This model was introduced in 2017 and produced in a limited series of only 2,000 pieces worldwide, making it one of Seiko's most sought-after collector's watches.

The design of the watch faithfully follows the historical original – typical case proportions, a clean dial, and prominent indices with luminescence. However, the modern execution brings a more robust construction and modern materials, including a sapphire crystal and improved water resistance. The stainless steel case has a diameter of 39.9 mm, which is an ideal size for both sports and everyday wear.

Inside the watch operates the automatic in-house movement Seiko Caliber 8L35, which is based on technology used in Grand Seiko. The movement is assembled at the renowned Shizuku-ishi Watch Studio in Japan and offers a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of approximately 50 hours.

The SLA017 model is equipped with a unidirectional rotating diving bezel, a screw-down crown, and water resistance of 200 meters, making it a full-fledged diving watch meeting professional standards. Additionally, the package included both a silicone strap inspired by the original model and a steel bracelet.

Thanks to the combination of historical design, top-notch Japanese craftsmanship, and limited production, the Seiko SLA017 is considered one of the most faithful and prestigious modern re-editions of the legendary 62MAS model.
