Hashtags are a phenomenon of modern online communication today. Several hashtags have spread among watch enthusiasts, serving to express their enthusiasm and share their love for watches. However, only a few of them have managed to cross the boundaries of the internet and gain attention in the real world. One such hashtag is #FliegerFriday, which has moved from a purely virtual environment to the real world. Behind it is Bhanu, who has been raising awareness about pilot watches and everything related to them for several years through this hashtag, not only through his website www.fliegerfriday.com. Thanks to the popularity and practicality of pilot watches, the #FliegerFriday project has grown beyond the online community and become part of the real world. So far, six unique projects have been created within its framework, focused on limited editions of pilot watches. After successful editions from brands such as Stowa, Tutima, Hanhart (two editions), and Dekla, we felt the urge to create something that would extend to the Czech Republic, especially given the rich history of Czechoslovak aviation.

A significant part of Austro-Hungarian aircraft production had its roots in Czech companies such as Aero, Avia, Beneš-Mráz, Letov, Praga, Tatra, or Zlín, and key engine manufacturers included ČKD, Walter, and Škoda. In this context, cooperation on a limited edition watch would only make sense with a Czech watch brand. At that moment, we approached our friends from the ROBOT brand. Fortunately, they were not deterred by our ideas, nor by numerous comments and requests for design modifications, which allowed for the creation of the ROBOT #FliegerFriday limited edition.

A key requirement for watches we want to wear ourselves is easy readability. This is ensured in this edition by distinctive skeletonized hands and a very clear multi-layered dial, protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Thanks to the luminescent coating, time is easily readable even in low light conditions. To make the watch comfortable to wear, we chose a universal case size of 40 mm, which fits well on the wrist thanks to its tapered lugs. The very low weight of the watch, which feels as if it were made of titanium, also contributes to comfort. Proper pilot watches should not reflect light, so we opted for sandblasting the steel case, which gave it a beautifully matte finish matching the crown and pin buckle. The watch is powered by a high-quality Swiss movement from La Joux-Perret, specifically the G101 caliber with a 68-hour power reserve. The case back is solid, but through a small window, one can see the rotor, on which robots are engraved, signaling the word "ROBOT" in flag semaphore.

We are very happy with these watches, not only because they turned out so well, but also because they are the first watches within the #FliegerFriday project produced by a Czech watch brand.

A big plus is also the price, which we managed to keep to a minimum without compromising on production or quality.

Anyone looking for interesting pilot watches and/or original watches made by a Czech watch brand should not overlook this edition.
