Klaus Jakob
In 1979, Klaus Jakob decided to follow his dream and embarked on a career as a watchmaker, inspired by his father Horst Jakob. Even though mechanical watches were falling out of favour at the time due to the advent of Japanese quartz movements, Klaus was undeterred. With passion and determination, he began his studies and rose to the level of master watchmaker. He specialized in producing parts for obsolete clock mechanisms and worked closely with his father.
In 1996, he founded the Jacques Etoile brand to introduce to the world the exceptional watchmaking art that he and his father had cultivated for decades.
By the way, watches with the Jacques Etoile logo can be found in the limited edition section of our e-shop!

Celebrating 25 years in the business: the "Debut" model
For his 25th anniversary in 2004, Klaus Jakob launched his first own watch model, aptly named "Debut". This limited edition consisted of only 100 numbered pieces and boasted first-class components. The dial, meticulously handcrafted by the renowned company Schätzle in Weil am Rhein, Germany, gave the watch an unmistakable character.
Reviving historical design in 2024
In recent years, Klaus Jakob handed over the production of Jacques Etoile watches to Hansjörg Vollmer, owner of Aristo Vollmer GmbH in Pforzheim. During a visit in 2024, we discovered several unsold dials marked with Klaus Jakob's name in his warehouse – remnants from the original "Debut" series from 2004.
Hansjörg decided to seize this rare opportunity and create an exclusive limited edition. These new watches feature an elegant 38.5mm polished steel case and are complemented by beautiful blued leaf hands that perfectly underline the classic aesthetic of the dial.
Inside ticks a top-of-the-line Sellita SW-200 automatic movement, boasting a decorated rotor and blued screws.
