    Zeitwinkel 273° Saphir Fumé

Modern haute horlogerie that reveals just the right amount.

The Zeitwinkel 273° Saphir Fumé immediately captivates with its smoked transparent sapphire dial, beneath which the in-house manufacture caliber ZW0103 is revealed. This is not a classic skeleton; the dial's transparency changes with the viewing angle and incident light, making the movement stand out at times and almost disappear at others.

The dial itself is created in approximately twenty manufacturing steps. A layer of metal salts is applied to the sapphire base in a plasma furnace, creating the characteristic smoky effect. The indices, logo, large date frame, and power reserve scale are then created using LIGA technology, which gives them a distinctive three-dimensional depth.

    A slightly different big date

One of the distinguishing features of the 273° model is the large date at the unconventional 11 o'clock position, which visually balances the power reserve indicator. At six o'clock, there is a small seconds hand.

The unusual placement of the date is due to Zeitwinkel's own patented solution. The date offers quick correction, and its mechanism is a semi-integrated part of the caliber.

The result is an asymmetrical dial that is unmistakable at first glance but still appears balanced and very clean.

    A true manufacture movement

The heart of the watch is the ZW0103 – Zeitwinkel's own automatic caliber, not a modified mass-produced movement from an external supplier.

It consists of 387 components and 49 jewels, operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, and, thanks to two mainspring barrels, offers a power reserve of over 72 hours. The automatic winding is bi-directional, and the movement is regulated in five positions.

The bridges and main plate are made of unplated German silver. Individual components are then hand-finished and decorated using traditional watchmaking techniques. We find anglage, black polishing, Geneva stripes, and perlage – including parts that will never be seen once the movement is assembled.

    Case built around the movement

The steel case has a diameter of 42.5 mm and a thickness of 13.8 mm. Its dimensions were not created according to fashion trends; the construction was designed around the ZW0103 caliber itself.

The case consists of 26 components, and its completion requires more than 80 working steps, largely performed by hand. The combination of polished and textured surfaces highlights its architecture, while the significantly curved lugs help the watch sit naturally on the wrist.

Why would you want a Zeitwinkel 273° Saphir Fumé?

Because it combines truly in-house mechanics with a design that can showcase it without resorting to a classic skeleton.

The smoked sapphire dial, patented large date, over 72-hour power reserve, and beautifully finished German silver caliber create a watch where practically every detail has a technical or horological reason.

The Zeitwinkel 273° Saphir Fumé doesn't need to convince with a famous name on the dial. Just look beneath it.

    About the brand

Zeitwinkel is a small independent Swiss manufacture from Saint-Imier that takes a slightly different path than most of the watchmaking industry. Instead of a famous logo, massive marketing, and large production numbers, it focuses primarily on in-house mechanics and traditional watchmaking.

The foundation of Zeitwinkel watches are their own manufacture calibers, developed with an emphasis on robustness, precision, longevity, and serviceability. The brand combines modern precision manufacturing of individual components with their traditional hand-finishing and assembly.

The result is watches intended primarily for those who seek independent Swiss watchmaking and are more interested in how and from what the watch was truly created than in the name on the dial.
