Reversible Art Deco Watch for Every Occasion

The reversible case was not invented for aesthetics – it was invented for polo. Riders in the 1930s needed to protect the crystal from mallet impacts, and so the reversible case emerged: dial-down towards the wrist, smooth/solid side up. Vario VERSA retains this mechanism, but reverses its meaning. Reversing the watch is not an escape from the world, but a choice: a white or black dial, elegant or consciously hidden – two moods in one watch.

The shape of the VERSA case draws from the Streamline Moderne style – a 1930s design movement that brought dynamism, rounded edges, and symmetry to industrial design. The rectangular case with gently beveled corners and proportions referencing elegant wristwatches of the golden era underscores the character of a dressy model intended for formal occasions. Two variants are available. Each features a two-tone dial with mirrored stripes – a visual motif directly inspired by interior Art Deco.

The reverse side, after rotating the case, reveals a sapphire crystal with a view of the decorated custom rotor, specially designed for this model. The rotation takes seconds: release the locking mechanism, the case folds, and the watch gains a different look. The movement operates identically in both positions.

For the ultra-thin profile of the case, Vario chose the Miyota 6T28 – the most compact automatic caliber in Miyota's portfolio. Its minimal height allows for an overall thickness of 10.5 mm despite the reversible construction. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 40 hours.

The VERSA Automatic is produced in a limited quantity of pieces. This is intentional: Vario does not want to become a manufacturer of accessible watches for the masses, but a creator of objects where every piece has meaning. Limited production ensures that the watch you choose will not be seen on every other wrist.
