Tutima Flieger Friday Chronograph Limited Edition
The return of one of Germany's most famous pilot chronographs. Only 25 pieces.
The Tutima Flieger Friday Chronograph Limited Edition is a modern tribute to the legendary Tutima pilot chronograph from 1941. And it's not just a loose inspiration from history. In this case, Tutima has tried to preserve the character of the original, including its proportions, typography, hands, and unmistakable fluted bezel.
The result is an exceptionally authentic pilot chronograph produced in a limited edition of only 25 numbered pieces.
Design with true history
The original Tutima Flieger Chronograph is one of the important German pilot watches of the first half of the 20th century. Its distinctive features therefore became the basis for this modern edition as well.
The satin-brushed steel case has a diameter of 38.5 mm, proportions very close to the historical prototype. The striking bidirectional rotating fluted bezel with a red orientation marker has also been retained.
The black dial uses the original number style and characteristic large cathedral hands. Tutima even worked with the typography of the original model, so the result is not just a modern chronograph with a few retro details, but a watch that very specifically follows the original from 1941.
Legibility, of course, meets current standards. The numerals and hands are equipped with Super-LumiNova, and the dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
Manual winding simply belongs here
Inside works the ETA/Valjoux 7760 with manual winding, which Tutima modified as a modern reminder of the historical caliber 59.
And it is manual winding that, in our opinion, is one of the reasons why this watch is so interesting. In a historically styled pilot chronograph, it feels more natural than an automatic and creates a much more direct connection between the owner and the watch's mechanics.
The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. Moreover, through the sapphire case back, it is possible to observe its modification with a distinctive gilded bridge and Tutima engraving.
Historical appearance, modern usability
Although the design directly refers to the 1940s, you don't have to treat the Flieger Friday like a historical watch.
The modern steel case, sapphire crystal, and 100-meter water resistance make it a chronograph that can truly be worn without problems. The watch is complemented by a brown leather strap in vintage pilot style.
Why choose Flieger Friday?
Because in an era when the term "vintage inspired" is used for almost everything, the Tutima Flieger Friday has a true historical basis.
The 38.5 mm diameter, original typography, cathedral hands, fluted bezel with red indicator, and hand-wound chronograph directly refer to one of the most significant models in Tutima's history. At the same time, you get sapphire, Super-LumiNova, and 100-meter water resistance, so the watch doesn't have to end up in a safe.
And then there's the number of pieces produced. Only 25 watches for the entire world.
The Tutima Flieger Friday is not just a successful reissue of a historical pilot chronograph. It is a very rare chapter in Tutima's history, combining authentic 1940s design with the mechanics and usability of modern watches.
