Modern 3D Technology and Traditional Craftsmanship
Since the sale of Stowa in 2021, Jörg Schauer has fully dedicated himself to developing his distinctive Schauer collection, while also seeking new ways to revive classic designs from the past. One such design is the marine watch, which once served as a crucial navigation tool on the high seas. Reinterpreting these watches and bringing them into the present day presented Schauer with a creative challenge, combining respect for tradition with a desire for innovation.
In the new Marine Legends series, the masterfully combines state-of-the-art 3D laser processing with precise manual production. The result is a unique blend of technical perfection and timeless elegance. The practical features of marine watches are enhanced by the use of luminous material, ensuring excellent readability even at night. Each dial is then hand-filled with numerals and indices, creating an original and unmistakable piece of horological art.

Background
Since 1996, Jörg Schauer has been designing and manufacturing Flieger, Marine, and Bauhaus watches under the Stowa watchmaking company. With a reputation as a perfectionist, his limited production series and anniversary models have been sold out for years and are highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Try searching for the "Stowa FOLE" anniversary model, and you'll be surprised.
In 2021, Jörg sold the Stowa company and subsequently resigned from all his positions in 2022. However, he retained the Schauer and Durowe brands for future watchmaking projects. After seeing some of his prototypes, we can only say that the future of Schauer watches is bright.
Details
As a perfectionist, Jörg had special wooden boxes made. These originate from the Black Forest region. The boxes have a leather lining inside and a special metal plate with the model designation and engraved individual number.
The result is simply amazing! Without exaggeration, these are perfect Marine-style watches for everyday use.
The entire production, including final assembly, takes place in Jörg Schauer's workshop located in the town of Engelsbrand, near one of Europe's watchmaking centers - the German city of Pforzheim.
Case and Dial
What immediately catches the eye is undoubtedly the dial. The dial is made of bronze and then laser engraved. This gives it an amazing and unique surface texture, and all the numerals and indices are perfectly three-dimensional. They literally rise from the dial. By the way, laser engraving one dial takes just over an hour. But that's not all; the dial then needs to be hand-finished, which takes another 3 hours of work!
The numerals and indices are filled with a thick layer of Luminova C3 luminous material. The dial has a Marine watch design and is housed in a newly developed 40 mm stainless steel case. However, to give the case an authentic feel, Jörg modified its surface with a satin brush finish. Both the case and the dial are made in Germany, as is the strap. The high-quality Schauer buckle is also matted to match the case.
The dial is then treated with a special coating that preserves the bronze surface and prevents unwanted oxidation.
Movement and Personalization
For Jörg, it is typical to always use the best materials. The ETA 2824-2 TOP Grade movement, which is adjustable in five positions: accuracy +/-4 s/day to +/- 15 s/day, used in the watches, he himself hand-finished and decorated. The decoration can be admired through the display back, which is made of sapphire glass.
The rotor includes an engraving with the model designation and its unique number.
