The Sartory-Billard SB10 Jumping Hour Black Sapphire is not a watch that tries to blend in. At first glance, you won't find anything you'd expect from classic mechanical watches – no hands and no traditional dial. Time takes on a completely different form here. The hours instantly jump to the next digit every 60 minutes, while the minutes smoothly rotate around the center of the watch. The result is an unusual way of displaying time that is surprisingly intuitive and fascinating to watch.

The centerpiece of the entire model is a smoky black sapphire, cut into a cabochon shape. Its delicate translucence reveals the mechanism hidden beneath, creating an impressive sense of depth. Depending on the viewing angle and the incident light, the sapphire changes – sometimes it appears almost like a dark, opaque surface, other times it allows a glimpse beneath its surface. It is this interplay with light that gives the Black Sapphire its distinctive character.

Beneath the sapphire, a mechanical spectacle unfolds that is worth noting. Extremely thin sapphire discs, approximately 0.2 mm thick, almost disappear before your eyes, allowing the mechanism itself to stand out. The hours are displayed in an aperture at six o'clock, and the minutes are indicated by a red pointer on the periphery of the central sapphire. In addition, Super-LumiNova BGW9 is placed around it, creating a striking luminous ring after dark and giving the watch a whole new expression.

The watch is powered by a Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret G100 movement, complemented by a patented jumping hour module. It offers a 55-hour power reserve and is housed in a compact steel case with a diameter of 39.5 mm. The combination of brushed and polished surfaces, sapphire elements, and water resistance up to 80 meters means that this is not just a concept to admire, but a watch designed for everyday wear.

The SB10 is a significant step for Sartory-Billard – it is the brand's first complication. The concept builds on the experimental SB08 model, but here it takes on a more refined and practical form for everyday wear. The Black Sapphire is also a variant for those who don't want another watch that looks like all the others. It is a distinctive mechanical object that combines an unusual jumping hour, fluid minute display, smoky sapphire, and luminous element into one very distinctive whole. And above all – a watch that people will likely start asking how it actually tells time.
