The 37.08 Starlight continues the theme of elemental timepieces that MING initiated a year earlier with the 37.08 Sand – a series in which the dial becomes the main storyteller, rather than just an accessory to the mechanics.
Aventurine Dial: A Clear Night Sky
The aventurine dial evokes a clear night sky. Gently glittering stars against a deep blue-black base. Aventurine itself can vary significantly in both color and the intensity of its metallic shimmer; the MING team went through a wide range of material variants before finding one with the desired effect. The result is an uncompromisingly formal interpretation of the 37 series' form, yet it remains universally wearable for all occasions.
Since it is a polished dial, no additional sapphire layer is needed for the characteristic MING inversion at certain light angles. The construction can thus remain at a minimum number of layers – aventurine itself is a fragile material that requires a solid metal backing for sufficient support.
Hands with a New Luminous Method
The hands of the 37.08 Starlight model feature an anthracite coating and a new MING luminous technology: a Super-LumiNova X1 formula applied in multiple print layers enhances both uniformity and the duration of the glow.
Case: The Established Format of the 37 Series
At 38 × 10.9 mm, the Starlight retains the familiar 37 series stainless steel case, including a narrow bezel and a combination of brushed and polished surfaces, making the watch appear visually larger and thinner than its actual dimensions suggest, while remaining comfortably wearable on the wrist.
Movement: Manual Sellita SW210.M1
The watch is powered by the manual-winding Sellita SW210.M1 movement in a unique MING execution – skeletonized rhodium bridges on a dark matte anthracite base.
Bracelet
The team tried a number of combinations with straps, but ultimately agreed unanimously that the 20mm second-generation universal bracelet best suited the watch, enhancing the model's overall brilliance. The bracelet features sculpted leaf links, quick-release fastening, and a hidden double butterfly clasp; it is compatible with any other MING model with a 20mm lug width that you may already own.
