About the model
The Maen Hudson 38 GMT has been around since 2018 and has built a reputation as a reliable, honestly built GMT tool watch in an affordable price range. The MKII is not just a cosmetic modification. MAEN went back to its roots and completely redesigned the case shape and construction to better reflect the original vision from when the model was first created. The result is cleaner, more balanced and feels more compact on the wrist than its predecessor.
The Hudson 38 GMT MKII tracks three time zones at once. Local time is shown by the hour and minute hands, the second zone is tracked by an independent GMT hand on a 24-hour scale printed behind the dial indices. The third zone can be read from the bidirectional bezel with 60 positions and its own 24-hour scale.
The new 316L surgical steel case combines brushed surfaces with precisely polished edges. A prominent visual element is the box-dome sapphire crystal, which is heavily domed and has an anti-reflective coating, giving the dial depth and adding a retro character. Water resistance of 300 m / 30 ATM exceeds diving requirements and brings peace of mind in any contact with water. The case back is screw-down.
Compared to the MKI, a lume pip has been added to the bezel, drilled lugs for easy strap changes, and the surface finish has been improved – both brushing and polishing are more even and precise.
The heart of the MKII is the automatic Sellita SW330-2 movement in Elaboré grade – a superior level of finish with better accuracy regulation. The movement has a power reserve of approximately 50 hours, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The GMT function is handled by an independent fourth hand, and the date is displayed in a window on the dial.
The watch comes standard with a TPU strap with a lizard pattern – durable, flexible, suitable for active wear. The optional five-link steel bracelet combines a satin brush with polished center links and tapers from 20 mm at the case to 16 mm at the clasp. The new butterfly clasp features on-the-fly micro-adjustment for tool-free length adjustment. The lugs are drilled and the end links are quick-release – strap changes take seconds.

MAEN Watches is an independent watch brand founded in 2017 by Dutch designers Jules van Helvoort and Sebastiaan Cortjaens. The idea originated in Stockholm, where they both lived and decided to create a brand combining Nordic sobriety with a Dutch sense of design and detail.
MAEN focuses on modern mechanical watches inspired by classic shapes of the 60s and 70s. Model lines such as Hudson, Skymaster or Manhattan are based on historical archetypes, which the brand interprets in a contemporary way – with compact dimensions, precise craftsmanship and Swiss movements.
Thanks to its clean design, direct approach to customers and emphasis on quality, the brand quickly became one of the most interesting new European microbrand manufacturers.
