Lorier Hyperion Black Date
The elegance of the golden age of aviation, classic proportions, and a true GMT complication. A watch for those who love to travel – and want to travel in style.
The Lorier Hyperion Black Date represents a modern interpretation of the classic travel watch from the era of the intercontinental aviation boom. The American brand Lorier was inspired by a time when flying was an exceptional experience and watches with a GMT function were the essential companion for globetrotters. The result is an elegant sports model that combines the signature aesthetics of the 1950s and 60s with modern mechanics.
The most striking feature is the bidirectional rotating red-and-blue bezel with a 24-hour scale, which allows you to track an additional time zone. Its more muted color tones appear more sophisticated than those of traditional GMT watches and beautifully complement the deep black glossy dial. It is adorned with applied indices and hands with golden details, inspired by the elegance of the so-called Jet Age. The faceted dauphine-style hands evoke the aerodynamic lines of jet aircraft with their shape, while the distinctive red GMT hand makes reading the second time zone easy.
The 316L stainless steel case has a diameter of 39 mm. The lug-to-lug distance is 46 mm and the total thickness, including the domed sapphire crystal, is approximately 12.15 mm. The crystal is equipped with a seven-layer internal anti-reflective coating, while the bezel uses a durable sapphire insert. Super-LumiNova BGW9 and C3 luminescence ensures good readability of the dial and GMT scale in low-light conditions.
Power is provided by the Japanese automatic caliber Miyota 9075 with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Its main advantage is a true traveler's GMT complication, known as a Flyer's GMT or True GMT. This allows for independent adjustment of the local hour hand without the need to stop the watch or change the home time settings. When traveling between time zones, you simply shift the hour hand to the current local time. The screw-down crown and 100-meter water resistance emphasize the watch's everyday practicality.
The steel bracelet with solid, articulating links tapers from 20 to 16 mm toward the clasp and wraps naturally around the wrist. The folding clasp offers a practical five-position tool-less micro-adjustment.
The Lorier Hyperion Black Date combines the romance of intercontinental travel with the practicality of modern mechanical watches. Its charm lies in perfectly balanced proportions, a sophisticated red-and-blue design, and a true GMT complication, making it an ideal companion for both travel and everyday wear.

About the Lorier brand
Lorier is an independent American watch brand founded in New York by husband and wife Lorenzo and Lauren Ortega. Their shared passion is for classic mechanical watches, especially iconic models from the 1950s and 60s, whose timeless design became the brand's primary inspiration. Lorier does not try to create mere copies of historical watches, but rather brings their character, proportions, and functionality into the present day. Typical features include compact cases, carefully thought-out details, mechanical movements, and an emphasis on an authentic vintage look. The Lorier philosophy is simple: to offer high-quality, beautifully designed mechanical watches with the soul of historical icons at an affordable price.
