Elegance in Detail: Hand-Engraved Dial and In-House Movement
Laine GG3 Blue represents the pinnacle of Torsti Laine's watchmaking artistry. The blue dial combines three classic guilloché patterns – Grain de Riz for the main surface, Panier for the outer part, and Clou de Paris for the small seconds. Each pattern is hand-engraved on a historical machine, giving the dial depth, a subtle play of light, and a distinctive character.
Inside the watch beats an in-house Laine movement, designed and finished in his Swiss workshop. Its foundation is a precise manual-winding construction, complemented by custom bridges, screws, and details characteristic of Laine's signature style. Every component is hand-finished, from the classic "anglage" on the edges to the mirror polish achieved through black polishing. This level of finishing is virtually unseen in watches of a similar category and clearly demonstrates the model's exceptional quality.
With a case diameter of 40.5 mm, the GG3 exudes confidence while maintaining timeless elegance. It is intended for anyone seeking not only a reliable timekeeping companion but, above all, a unique, handcrafted piece of watchmaking art.
About the Brand
Torsti Laine, an independent watchmaker from Finland, is one of the prominent figures in the contemporary independent scene. He began his journey at the prestigious Finnish School of Watchmaking, where he gained a solid foundation in the craft. He then worked for world-renowned brands A. Lange & Söhne in Germany and Kari Voutilainen in Switzerland, where he perfected his art.
A turning point came in 2014 when he received the prestigious Lange Watchmaking Excellence Award. This recognition gave him the courage to establish his own brand, Laine Watches, in Le Locle – a Swiss town with a deep watchmaking tradition. In his small workshop, he works completely independently, dedicating himself to every detail with utmost care.
Laine draws inspiration from traditional techniques, particularly the art of guilloché – delicate hand-engraving that gives dials depth, shine, and a distinctive character. It is thanks to his masterful command of this technique that he has earned the admiration of collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.
