Islander Babylon represents an extremely lightweight, practical "grab and go" field watch with a solar movement and titanium case, offering high legibility and minimal weight that is almost imperceptible on the wrist.
At the heart of the watch is the Miyota 2170 Ring Solar movement. Unlike conventional solar solutions, the solar collector is not located under the dial but around the inner circumference of the case, above the dial. This allows the dial to be fully opaque and metallic without limiting its charging capability. When fully charged, the movement can operate for approximately four months without further exposure to light. The stated accuracy is ±20 seconds per month. The movement is designed without a date complication, simplifying setting and enhancing user comfort.
The titanium case features a finely brushed finish and a special hardened layer that increases surface hardness to approximately HV1000 on the Vickers scale. This represents about eight times the hardness of untreated titanium and brings its scratch resistance closer to martensitic stainless steel. The case has a diameter of 40 mm, a thickness of 10.4 mm, and a lug-to-lug distance of 47.5 mm. The case back is solid, screwed down, and features an engraving.
The watch is fitted with a flat sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring high scratch resistance and good legibility in all lighting conditions. The screw-down crown contributes to a water resistance of 100 meters, making the watch suitable for everyday use, including contact with water.
Both the dial and hands are treated with Super-LumiNova luminescent material, ensuring excellent legibility in low-light conditions. The movement is equipped with an EOL (End of Life) function, where the second hand jumps in two-second intervals when the charge is low, signaling the need to expose the watch to light.
The watch comes on a woven nylon strap that easily adapts to the wrist and is secured with quick-release spring bars. The strap width at the case is 20 mm, tapering to 18 mm at the titanium buckle. The total weight of the watch is just 42 grams.
The Islander Babylon model is available in five color variants: white, black, blue, olive, and anthracite. The warranty is one year.
