    About the model

The Erwin watch is equipped with an in-house movement, 5.7 mm thin, allowing it to fit into a 9mm high case. This enables the watch to elegantly slide under tight shirt cuffs. The heartbeat of the Erwin watch is determined by hand-assembled and regulated escapement parts, all manufactured directly in the manufacture using old-fashioned classical techniques, which we witnessed firsthand.

The Erwin Pilot watch features a structured black dial inspired by military style with bright luminescent cathedral-style hands.

    "Dead Beat Second"

Dead beat second is a term for a mechanical watch mechanism that allows the second hand to jump at precise one-second intervals. Unlike the smooth movement of the hand in conventional mechanical watches, where the hand gradually jumps several times per second, with a dead beat second, the hand moves in discrete steps, advancing by only one increment each second.

This type of movement looks similar to modern electronic watches, where the second hand jumps from one point to another every second. In reality, however, it is a mechanical mechanism with a stepping system that allows for such precise movement.

The dead beat second appeared as early as the 18th century, particularly in highly accurate pocket watches and marine chronometers that needed to measure time with high precision. Vandaag, this mechanism is rare and is mostly considered a demonstration of horological craftsmanship, often used in high-quality luxury watches.

    Who is behind Habring²

Mechanical watches made with love by independent watchmaking "eco-farmers," as the brand's founders, Maria and Richard Habring, call themselves. The brand's main specialization is offering fascinating complications at very attractive prices. With an annual production of 200 watches per year, manufactured by a small team of watchmakers in Austria, Habring² can be considered without exaggeration the smallest true "manufacture."

Richard and Maria founded Habring² in 2004 and soon after developed their own in-house movements. They have won the prestigious Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève four times!
