echo/neutra 1956 Chrono GMT – Cappuccino & Purple

The 1956 Chrono GMT is among echo/neutra's most interesting watches. It combines the character of classic sports chronographs of the mid-20th century with a surprisingly rich set of features – a mechanical chronograph, GMT complication, day and night indication, and a telemeter scale.
The new Cappuccino and Purple variants share the same construction and mechanics, but thanks to their distinctly different color schemes, each has a completely different feel.
On the dial, we find a central GMT hand for the second time zone and a central chronograph seconds hand. At 12 o'clock is a 30-minute counter, at 6 o'clock a 12-hour chronograph counter, and at 9 o'clock small seconds. Below them is also a day and night indicator linked to the second time zone, which instantly tells you whether it's day or night in the location tracked by the GMT hand. The black ceramic bezel also features a telemeter scale.
The heart of the watch is the hand-wound Sellita SW532M b Elaboré. The caliber operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, has 21 jewels, and offers a very good power reserve of 62 hours. The integrated chronograph uses a cam mechanism, and the movement is equipped with a Nivaflex antimagnetic hairspring. We believe that manual winding perfectly suits the style of the 1956 collection and further emphasizes the mechanical character of the watch.
The steel case has a diameter of 40 mm and a comfortable lug-to-lug of 46 mm. The distinctly domed Ultra-Domed sapphire crystal forms part of its vintage character and gives the dial interesting depth. The total height including the crystal is 14.8 mm, the case itself without it measures 12.7 mm. It also features 100 meters of water resistance and Super-LumiNova, so despite its historical inspiration, these watches are perfectly usable every day.
Cappuccino, or Purple?
The model is offered in two color variants.
Cappuccino is warmer and more playful. The earthy tone of the dial and sub-dials is complemented by unexpected turquoise accents, which give the watch a distinctive contemporary character.
Purple appears more elegant and darker. The deep burgundy dial with burgundy tones changes its character depending on the light and contrasts beautifully with the black sub-dials and striking red details.

Why choose the 1956 Chrono GMT?
Because the combination of a hand-wound mechanical chronograph, GMT, day and night indication, and a telemeter bezel is not common in this price category. Add a 62-hour power reserve, sapphire, 100-meter water resistance, and well-executed proportions, and you get a watch that is interesting not only for its appearance.
