Earthen Co. Summit MK II
Glade – forest-green ceramic case with a light-green, fully luminescent dial.
Ceramic instead of steel. Inspired by mountain landscapes and classic outdoor watches, the Summit MK II show that ceramic watches can be not only elegant, but also practical and ready for everyday adventures.
The Earthen Co. Summit MK II collection brings together modern materials, minimalist design and an aesthetic inspired by the Alpine landscape. Each model takes its cues from the changing colors of the mountains, snowstorms, forests or desert terrain. At the heart of them all, however, is an unusual ceramic case, giving the watches a distinctive look and exceptional practical qualities.
Ceramic takes center stage
Unlike conventional watches with steel cases, the Summit MK II uses ceramic throughout the exterior case construction. This modern material is notable above all for its exceptional hardness and high resistance to everyday scratches. While fine hairline scratches inevitably appear on steel watches over time, ceramic can retain its original appearance for much longer.
Other advantages include low weight, a comfortable feel against the skin and lasting color. Ceramic also makes it possible to achieve shades and surface textures that look entirely different from those of traditional metal cases. Earthen Co. makes use of this by combining finely brushed surfaces with polished, beveled edges, highlighting the case geometry and creating an intriguing play of light.
The material gives the Summit collection its unmistakable identity. The ceramic case is not merely a design experiment, but a considered alternative to classic stainless steel. However, like other very hard materials, ceramic can be more susceptible to strong impacts.
Classic proportions, modern execution
The case has a versatile diameter of 38 mm, a lug-to-lug length of 45 mm and a thickness of just 10 mm including the sapphire crystal. Its compact dimensions, distinctive geometry and prominent screw-down crown are reminiscent of classic outdoor and pilot watches.
The dials feature a clear layout inspired by historic field watches, with bold Arabic numerals and luminous elements. The different versions offer a range of color combinations, from minimalist black and white to striking shades of blue, green or orange.
Power comes from the proven Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic caliber, with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The dial is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while the screw-down crown helps provide water resistance to 10 ATM (100 meters). The watches are fitted with sport straps, which vary in design and color depending on the specific version.
The Earthen Co. Summit MK II proves that ceramic need not be reserved for luxury watches. Its greatest strengths are the combination of an exceptionally durable material, low weight, compact proportions and nature-inspired design. A watch that stands out not only for its color, but above all for what it is made of.
