Earthen Co. Summit MK II
Dune Devil - Sand-colored ceramic case with a matte brown dial and warm earthy tones.
Ceramic instead of steel. Inspired by mountain landscapes and classic outdoor watches, the Summit MK II shows that ceramic watches can be not only elegant but also practical and ready for everyday adventures.
The Earthen Co. Summit MK II collection brings together modern materials, minimalist design and aesthetics inspired by the Alpine landscape. Each model draws inspiration from the changing colors of the mountains, snowstorms, forests or desert landscapes. What they all share, however, is an unusual ceramic case, which gives the watches their distinctive look and exceptional practical qualities.
Ceramic takes center stage
Unlike conventional watches with steel cases, the Summit MK II uses ceramic throughout the exterior case construction. This modern material is notable above all for its exceptional hardness and high resistance to everyday scratches. While fine hairline scratches inevitably appear on steel watches over time, ceramic can retain its original appearance for much longer.
Other advantages include low weight, a comfortable feel against the skin and colorfastness. Ceramic also makes it possible to achieve shades and surface textures that look quite different from those of traditional metal cases. Earthen Co. takes advantage of this by combining finely brushed surfaces with polished beveled edges, accentuating the case's geometry and creating an engaging play of light.
The material is what gives the Summit collection its unmistakable identity. The ceramic case is not just a design experiment, but a considered alternative to classic stainless steel. However, as with other very hard materials, ceramic can be more susceptible to sharp impacts.
Classic proportions, modern execution
The case has a versatile diameter of 38 mm, a lug-to-lug length of 45 mm and a thickness of just 10 mm including the sapphire crystal. Its compact dimensions, distinctive geometry and prominent screw-down crown are reminiscent of classic outdoor and pilot watches.
The dials feature a clear layout inspired by historic field watches, with prominent Arabic numerals and luminous elements. The different versions offer a range of color combinations, from minimalist black and white to bold shades of blue, green or orange.
Power comes from the proven Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic caliber, with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The dial is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while the screw-down crown contributes to the watch's 10 ATM (100-meter) water resistance. The watches are finished with sport straps, which vary in design and color depending on the specific version.
The Earthen Co. Summit MK II proves that ceramic need not be reserved for the world of luxury watches. Its greatest strengths are an exceptionally durable material, low weight, compact proportions and a nature-inspired design. A watch that stands out not only for its color, but above all for what it is made of.
