The Prestex Broadgate GMT Automatic is a modern British watch for those who want to combine striking design with the practical function of a second time zone. The Broadgate collection takes its name from Broadgate in the City of London, one of the most important financial centers of the British capital. And it is the urban character of London that is reflected in the watch – it is confident, distinctive and contemporary, while retaining the typical design elements of the Prestex brand.
The dominant feature of this variant is the orange dial. The characteristic Arabic numerals are based on the typography Prestex uses across its collections, giving the watch a distinctive British signature. The blue GMT hand clearly distinguishes the second time from the main time while creating a striking color contrast. The hands and indices are equipped with Super-LumiNova BGW9, so legibility remains very good even in low light conditions.
At the heart of the Broadgate GMT is the Miyota 9075 GMT automatic movement, which offers a true GMT function. Unlike common "office GMT" solutions, the 24-hour GMT hand can be set independently, which is especially practical when traveling between time zones. This makes the watch not just a design piece, but a truly useful travel tool.
The 316L stainless steel case has a diameter of 40 mm, a lug-to-lug length of 47 mm and a thickness of approximately 13 mm. The flat sapphire crystal protects the dial from scratches, and the transparent sapphire case back allows a view of the automatic movement. The 200-meter water resistance pushes the Broadgate significantly beyond regular dress GMT watches. This combination makes the model a very versatile watch – it works equally well in the city, on a business trip, or on vacation.
The orange dial is complemented by an FKM rubber strap, which gives the watch a sportier and more casual character. Thanks to the quick-release system, the strap can be easily changed, adapting the Broadgate to different occasions in an instant.
The Broadgate GMT Automatic is Prestex for a new generation. It has enough character not to blend in with ordinary sports GMT watches, yet it offers a practical complication, 200 meters of water resistance, a sapphire crystal, and a compact 40mm case. Prestex is an independent British watch brand built on the more than century-old story of the Duckworth family. Its roots go back to 1869, when the family company Prestons of Bolton was founded. In the 1920s, watches under the Prestex name were produced for customers worldwide. The historical experience with chronographs, pocket watches, and elegant dress watches today forms the basis on which the brand builds its modern collections.
Current Prestex is led by Neil Duckworth, who has extensive experience in the watchmaking industry and was involved in launching the TAG Heuer brand in the UK in the 1980s. Prestex watches are designed in England and combine British design tradition with modern materials and Swiss and Japanese watchmaking. The brand remains independent and produces its collections in limited quantities.
