The Aquascaphe GMT MK-II is the new generation of traveler watches from the French brand Baltic. It retains the signature neo-vintage aesthetic of the Aquascaphe series but introduces a major technical change—a true (or flyer) GMT, which allows you to independently adjust the local hour hand while traveling.
The fourth central hand indicates home time on the 24-hour scale of the bi-directional rotating bezel. Upon arriving in a different time zone, you simply move the main hour hand to the local time without stopping the watch or changing the GMT hand setting. This is exactly how we believe a traveler's GMT should function.
Miyota 9075 – true GMT
Inside beats the Japanese automatic caliber Miyota 9075, which offers exactly this independent local hour hand adjustment. The movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, allows for hacking (stopping the second hand) for precise time setting, and provides a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
The Aquascaphe GMT MK-II is therefore not just a GMT in appearance. The second time zone function is designed to be genuinely practical for travel.
A tool watch that isn't afraid of water
The completely redesigned 316L stainless steel case has a diameter of 39.5 mm, a 47 mm lug-to-lug, and a height of 13.8 mm, including the noticeably domed sapphire crystal. Excluding the crystal, the case itself is only 12 mm thick.
The new construction features wider lugs, sharper edges, and crown guards, making the MK-II feel more robust than the previous generation. The screw-down crown and 200-meter water resistance confirm that this is not just an elegant traveler's watch, but a true tool watch.
Sapphire on top and on the bezel
One of the most beautiful elements of the Aquascaphe is the combination of modern materials with a vintage look. Above the dial is a double-dome sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating, while Baltic also uses sapphire for the insert of the bi-directional GMT bezel.
It features 48 clicks and a 24-hour scale, allowing it to work even with time zones offset by half an hour.
The glossy dial is complemented by bold applied indices made of Super-LumiNova BGW9 and modernized faceted hands with luminescence. The date is positioned symmetrically at six o'clock, and a color-matched date wheel helps maintain a clean look for the dial.
Four color variants
The Aquascaphe GMT MK-II is produced in four versions – Blue, Red, Grey, and Green. The foundation always remains the same: a glossy black dial, a prominent GMT hand, and a two-tone 24-hour bezel. It is the color scheme of the bezel that gives each variant its distinct character.
The watch can be paired with a Beads of Rice steel bracelet, a more modern Flat Link, or a sporty vulcanized FKM rubber strap.
