GMT watches were born in the cockpits of transatlantic flights in the 1960s. Pilots needed to track home time and local time simultaneously, with a single glance, without recalculating. The Aquascaphe GMT honors this tradition and brings it into the present: a fourth hand shows the second time zone in 24-hour format, and a bidirectional bezel allows for reading a third. A single glance at the wrist is all it takes.
The bidirectional bezel with 24 positions features a sapphire insert, a scratch-resistant material that, unlike ceramic, retains transparent depth. The scale is divided into light (day) and dark (night) halves to quickly indicate whether it is morning or evening in the second time zone. The color of the insert varies by variant.
The black glossy dial contrasts with the indices and hands treated with Super-LumiNova® C1 luminescence, which glows a strong green in the dark but remains unobtrusive in daylight. The date window at the six o'clock position completes the functional features without unnecessary visual clutter. Each variant adds its own color accent to the bezel and details, which enliven and individualize the dial.
The Swiss-made automatic Soprod C125 movement was chosen for its robustness and reliability in demanding conditions. It has a power reserve of 42 hours, a hacking function, and an integrated GMT complication. The screw-down crown ensures 100m / 10 ATM water resistance – the Aquascaphe GMT can handle diving and daily contact with water without reservation.
The case back features an engraving inspired by global time zones – a subtle detail that recalls the watch's original purpose. The lugs are drilled, so strap changes require no tools.
