GMT watches were born in the cockpits of transatlantic flights in the 1960s. Pilots needed to track home time and local time simultaneously, at a glance, without recalculating. The Aquascaphe GMT honors this tradition and brings it into the present: a fourth hand shows a second time zone in 24-hour format, and a bi-directional bezel allows for reading a third. A single glance at the wrist is all it takes.
The bi-directional bezel with 24 positions features a sapphire insert, a scratch-resistant material that, unlike ceramic, retains transparent depth. The scale is divided into light (day) and dark (night) halves to make it immediately clear whether it is morning or evening in the second time zone. The color scheme of the insert varies by variant.
The black glossy dial contrasts with the indices and hands treated with Super-LumiNova® C1 luminous material, which glows a strong green in the dark but does not interfere in daylight. A date window at the six o'clock position complements the functional features without unnecessary visual distraction. Each variant adds its own colorful accent to the bezel and details that enliven and individualize the dial.
The Swiss-made automatic Soprod C125 movement was chosen for its robustness and reliability in demanding conditions. It has a power reserve of 42 hours, a hacking function, and an integrated GMT complication. A screw-down crown ensures water resistance of 100 m / 10 ATM – the Aquascaphe GMT can handle diving and daily contact with water without reservation.
The case back features an engraving inspired by global time zones – a subtle detail that recalls the watch's original mission. The lugs are drilled, so strap changes do not require any tools.
