Arcange AS05: Unique Dial in British Racing Green and Anthracite
The Arcange AS05 model presents a fascinating modern interpretation of classic "Sector dial" dress watches from the 1940s. This model brings a contemporary flair to traditional design through a masterful combination of colors and textures that together create an unusually profound visual experience. At the heart of the dial is an inner surface crafted in rich green lacquer, surrounded by a refined anthracite hour ring. The entire composition is then enclosed by an outer minute track adorned with delicate guilloché work, creating a dramatic contrast between the smooth lacquered center and the detailed geometric texture of the edge.
The uniqueness of this model lies in its three-dimensionality, achieved by the use of hand-applied indices. These significantly rise above the dial surface and, combined with highly polished Alpha-style hands, give the watch a level of plasticity and precision that is quite rare in this category. This interplay of elements ensures that the dial constantly changes its character depending on the light, while maintaining perfect legibility and a technical character.
The slim 37.2 mm diameter and mere 9.5 mm thick case houses a premium Japanese automatic Miyota 9039 movement, underlining the brand's focus on quality and reliability. The overall impression of a luxurious yet highly functional machine is completed by a domed sapphire crystal with five-layer anti-reflective coating and an exceptional water resistance of 100 meters. The Arcange AS05 is not just a tribute to history but a distinctive work of art that combines the legacy of watchmaking's golden era with modern engineering on the wrist.

About the brand
Arcange is an independent French watchmaking brand whose creation is linked to its founder's personal discovery. As a child, he discovered his grandfather's watch from 1969, and this moment became the impulse for a lasting interest in the mechanics and aesthetics of classic watches. Arcange's designs therefore often feature elements inspired by vintage models, as well as the instrumental appearance of aviation instruments.
The watches are finally assembled and controlled in Besançon, a traditional center of French watchmaking, and are complemented by leather straps also made in France.
From a technical point of view, Arcange primarily uses Miyota 9-series automatic mechanical movements, with some models featuring rotor decoration or a transparent case back. The brand is also characterized by so-called sector dials, subdued color schemes, and clean element layouts, which refer to the French tradition of functional and clear design. Cases are generally steel, often with brushed surfaces and polished details that highlight simple geometric shapes.
Arcange offers a look at contemporary independent watchmaking that builds on French tradition, works with technical details, and at the same time maintains its own, understated design language.
