VinylPilot Watch - a special collaboration between Minimal Wear and AndoAndoAndo

The VynilPilot model builds on the success of the original Vinyl Record watch, which was designed in response to the lack of square cases on the market. While the original watch was aimed at wider wrists, the VinylPilot model targets narrower wrists with its square case. Inspired by vintage pilot watches, this model combines minimalist design with aviation elements, creating a functional and stylish timepiece.

The VinylPilot features a square 36mm × 36mm steel case. The design draws from the robust appearance of vintage cockpit instruments, and the case has been completely redesigned based on the original Vinyl Record model. The bezel is secured by four screws, giving the watch an industrial, utilitarian look. The case is designed to fit any wrist without compromise.

Turning the watch over reveals a transparent sapphire case back, offering a vivid reference to aviation. Printed on the glass is a terrain map of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina—the site where the Wright brothers made the first powered flight in 1903. The radar-like graphic shows the exact launch site, and as the watch's rotor rotates, it mimics the movement of an aircraft engine, underscoring the watch's aviation heritage.

The dial is a modern reinterpretation of California dials. Soft indentations create subtle depth and a textured feel, while four directional lines emanating from the center symbolize orientation, navigation, and movement. A triangular marker at 12 o'clock, along with the chapter ring, includes arrows pointing to the cardinal directions, giving the design a pilot's visual language.

Bold, classic sword-shaped hands are filled with Super-LumiNova C3, ensuring excellent readability day and night. The second hand is shaped like a radar needle, extended and also coated with luminous paint.

AndoAndoAndo is a watch brand founded in 2020 by Yu Ando, a Japanese designer living in Finland.

Yu founded the brand with the goal of creating watches that are gender-neutral, timeless, and fun. The brand focuses on medium-sized watches suitable for both men's and women's wrists. In addition, it also offers watches that can be worn hands-free, and even dials adorned with crystals. AndoAndoAndo strives to make the watch industry inclusive and offer products for everyone.
